Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to represent the true probability of an event occurring, though discrepancies can arise due to differing information or risk assessments. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately reflect the likelihood of an outcome, especially as more information becomes available leading up to the event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Sabadell tennis match. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price fluctuates based on supply and demand; if more traders believe Cian Maguire will win, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities accordingly.
