Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from those set by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market incorporates a broader range of information and perspectives. Discrepancies can arise due to differing risk assessments, access to information, or simply varying opinions among participants. It’s common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information than sportsbooks, as the continuous trading process allows for rapid price adjustments. Observing these differences can offer valuable insights into public perception and potential value bets.

The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, directly reflecting the market’s aggregate prediction. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders believe a particular outcome is likely, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to new information and changing sentiment. The current implied probability of a specific outcome can be derived from the share price.
