Typically, prediction market odds reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, often incorporating information not readily available to traditional sportsbooks. This can lead to differences in probabilities, particularly in situations where specialized knowledge or unique data sources are valuable. Sportsbook odds are often set by a smaller team of analysts, and may be more susceptible to biases or limitations in their information. However, as an event approaches, the odds on Polymarket and sportsbook lines tend to converge as more information becomes public. It's important to compare both to form a well-rounded view.
