Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, being driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to represent the true probability of an event occurring. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust as new information emerges and more people participate. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions and risk assessments between the two, offering potential arbitrage opportunities.
