Prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of wisdom than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective prediction of informed traders. It's common to see differences emerge, especially as new information becomes available. If polls or analysts favor one player, it will be interesting to see if this market aligns with that sentiment or diverges based on the insights of those actively trading on Polymarket.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe a particular outcome is likely, the higher the price of its shares will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the aggregate intelligence of the crowd and adjusts in real-time to new information and changing perspectives.
