Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market aims to represent the true probability as assessed by traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions, information advantages among traders, or simply variations in how each venue sets its initial odds. If there’s a significant difference, it might indicate an opportunity for arbitrage, where traders can profit by exploiting the price difference between the two.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of Daniil Sarksian winning the Tsaghkadzor tennis match. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event's likelihood. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means the price is entirely driven by supply and demand within Polymarket and isn’t influenced by external factors or other prediction markets.
