Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, aiming for profit regardless of the outcome. This market, however, is driven by the collective wisdom of traders, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities, especially as the event approaches. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, the dynamic nature of this market allows for rapid adjustments based on new information and changing sentiment, potentially revealing discrepancies with initial sportsbook lines.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of Aristotelis Bezianis or Vaal Urankar winning the match. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price fluctuates based on supply and demand, meaning that if more traders believe in a particular outcome, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic and responsive pricing system.
