Prediction market odds often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the wisdom of the crowd and the incentive structure. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to express their own informed opinions, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities. Discrepancies can arise from differing information sources, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of both markets. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those found here, it may present an arbitrage opportunity for informed traders.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting new information and changing sentiment. As more traders participate, the price tends to converge towards a more accurate representation of the true probability.
