Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which may be influenced by factors like house bias or initial public perception. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their analysis, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome, creating a dynamic pricing mechanism. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges that hasn't been fully incorporated into traditional betting lines. Analyzing these differences can offer valuable insights into public sentiment and potential value.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective prediction. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated and responsive to changing conditions surrounding the Bax vs Kesharwani match.
