Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it’s important to note that sportsbooks and this market have different costs and limitations, which can contribute to these differences.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes of the Makhlouf vs Blaydes match, and the price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price fluctuates based on supply and demand – if more people buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated to reflect the latest information and sentiment.
