Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on expert analysis and incorporate a margin for profit, while this market allows anyone to trade based on their own insights. If a significant discrepancy exists between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it might indicate that the market believes the sportsbook has mispriced the event, or that new information hasn't yet been fully incorporated into sportsbook lines. It's a good way to compare perspectives.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now.
