Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, and may be influenced by promotional considerations. This market, however, represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. As a result, the odds here can sometimes differ significantly from sportsbook offerings, potentially offering value to informed bettors who can identify discrepancies. It’s important to compare and contrast to form your own informed opinion.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now.
