Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market is driven by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists between this market and sportsbook odds, it might indicate that the crowd believes the sportsbook has mispriced the event. However, it's important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different methodologies and information sets.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated and responsive to changing conditions surrounding the Melilla tennis match.
