Typically, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market is driven purely by traders’ willingness to buy or sell based on their beliefs. If there's a significant discrepancy, arbitrage opportunities may emerge, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both platforms. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities as perceived by different groups, and neither is guaranteed to be perfectly accurate.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate and express their views, the price fluctuates, reflecting the collective prediction. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price indicates the market’s assessment of the likelihood of a particular player winning the match, and is updated in real-time with each trade.

The platform will rely on widely available and trusted sources to determine the winner and settle the market accordingly. Unexpected results in other matches leading up to the event might also impact perceptions of the players' chances. Furthermore, major shifts in public opinion, perhaps driven by expert analysis or social media discussion, could also cause the market to move. Monitoring these signals will be key to understanding potential price fluctuations in this market.
