Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook odds, it could indicate that the market perceives information differently or that one is mispriced. It's important to analyze both sources to form a well-rounded view of the likely result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price reflects the aggregate assessment of all participants, creating a dynamic and real-time forecast of the match's result. The current volume traded suggests active participation and evolving sentiment.
