Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to represent the true probability of an event occurring, though discrepancies can emerge due to differing information or risk assessments. It's common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information than sportsbooks, potentially offering more accurate probabilities as the event draws nearer. Analyzing both can provide a more comprehensive view.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now.
