Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of how each venue operates. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information than sportsbooks, potentially offering a more accurate assessment of probabilities as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic pricing system driven by supply and demand, allowing the market to quickly adjust to new information and changing sentiment regarding the Baku tennis match.
