Prediction market odds often differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks, reflecting the 'wisdom of the crowd' versus the assessments of professional oddsmakers. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like marketing and risk management into their pricing, while this market relies solely on traders’ willingness to buy or sell. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Examining these differences can offer insights into where the crowd believes sportsbooks might be mispricing the probability of various outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the perceived chance of that outcome occurring, allowing traders to express their views and profit if their predictions prove accurate. The current price reflects the aggregated assessment of all participants.
This market resolves around Oct 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting.
