Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a 'wisdom of the crowd' that can differ from traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to express their own independent beliefs about the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of each venue. If you find a significant difference between the odds here and those offered by sportsbooks, it might indicate an opportunity for value betting, assuming your analysis supports it.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price adjusts accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the event's potential results. The current market indicates the perceived likelihood of each player winning, based on the collective judgment of those trading on Polymarket.
