Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective predictions of traders, aiming to reflect the true probability of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market dynamically adjusts as new information and opinions emerge, potentially offering a more accurate forecast than traditional odds.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous process of buying and selling shares representing different outcomes. Traders set the odds by placing bids and asks, and the price converges based on supply and demand. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher its price will climb, and vice versa. This creates a real-time assessment of probabilities, distinct from static odds offered elsewhere, and reflects the wisdom of the crowd regarding the Dodgers-Giants rivalry.
This market resolves around Sep 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Los Angeles Dodgers versus San Francisco Giants game, as reported by a widely recognized sports data provider. The market will determine which outcome – a Dodgers win or a Giants win – is reflected in the final score, settling all outstanding shares accordingly.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Any news regarding key player injuries on either the Dodgers or Giants would likely cause a shift in probabilities. Unexpected pitching changes, weather forecasts impacting game conditions, or even significant performance trends from individual players could all contribute to price movement. Additionally, major announcements about team strategies or managerial decisions could also impact trader sentiment and, consequently, the odds in this market.
