Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Dodgers-Athletics first 5 innings market displays real-time odds on which team will lead after the first five innings of play. Traders can monitor the current price, historical price movements, and trading activity as the game approaches and unfolds. Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets are driven by traders seeking to profit on accuracy. This market aggregates the beliefs of thousands of independent traders, which can sometimes surface insights that traditional oddsmakers miss. Comparing the two can reveal where public perception and market-derived probability align or diverge on this matchup's early innings.

On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome, with the share price reflecting the implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current market leans toward one outcome based on accumulated trades and order-book depth. Prices adjust in real time as new information emerges—such as lineup announcements, weather updates, or injury reports—allowing traders to enter or exit positions dynamically. The spread between bid and ask prices reflects liquidity and conviction among participants.

This market resolves around Jul 2, 2026, once the first five innings of the game are complete and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team holds the lead after exactly five innings of play. If the score is tied after five innings, the market will reflect that tie outcome. Resolution is straightforward and based on the official game record, with no ambiguity once the inning concludes.

Key catalysts include starting pitcher announcements, recent team performance trends, and lineup changes due to injuries or rest decisions. Weather conditions at game time—wind speed and direction, temperature—can significantly affect early-game dynamics and scoring potential. Betting market activity and sharp money flowing into one side may signal informed positioning. Real-time game events, such as early runs, defensive plays, or pitcher effectiveness in the first inning, will shift odds as traders update their probability estimates based on live action.
