Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and risk appetites. Kalshi's regulatory structure and user base may price the first-five-inning outcome differently than Polymarket's crowd. Timing of large trades, information asymmetries, and platform-specific fee structures also drive wedges between prices. These gaps create arbitrage opportunities for sharp traders but typically narrow as both platforms' communities respond to new data or as traders exploit mispricings across venues.
Lineup announcements, injury reports, and weather conditions are primary catalysts that shift odds before game time. Starting pitcher performance, bullpen availability, and recent team form also influence trader positioning. As the game begins, early runs, errors, and momentum swings will drive real-time repricing. Trading volume often spikes around these events, so monitoring line movement and platform activity can reveal where informed traders are positioning themselves ahead of the first pitch.
