Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven by trader conviction and real-money risk. This market aggregates the collective judgment of participants wagering on the first five innings outcome, which can sometimes offer sharper pricing than traditional sportsbooks, especially for niche or early-game segments. Comparing the two can reveal where one venue sees value the other may have missed.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through an order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for contracts representing each possible outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each contract reflects the probability traders assign to that outcome occurring during the first five innings. As new information emerges—injuries, weather, lineup changes—traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. This continuous repricing ensures the market stays responsive to fresh data and trader conviction.
This market resolves around Jun 30, 2026, once the first five innings of the game are complete and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team has scored more runs through the end of the fifth inning. Once the game data is confirmed and official, the market settles and contracts are paid out according to the winning outcome. Traders should monitor game updates as the resolution date approaches to stay informed.
Several factors can shift prices in this market before it closes. Roster changes, such as key player injuries or last-minute lineup adjustments, often trigger sharp moves. Weather conditions at game time—wind direction, temperature, humidity—can favor hitters or pitchers and influence early-inning scoring. Starting pitcher performance history, bullpen availability, and recent offensive trends also drive trader positioning. Breaking news about team strategy or unexpected roster moves can create volatility. As game time approaches, market prices typically tighten as uncertainty resolves.
