Description

This market refers to the LoL Upper bracket semifinal 2 match between Hanwha Life Esports and G2 Esports in the Mid-Season Invitational Playoffs, initially scheduled for July 5 at 4:00AM ET. This market will resolve to "Hanwha Life Esports" if Hanwha Life Esports win the match against G2 Esports. This market will resolve to "G2 Esports" if G2 Esports win the match against Hanwha Life Esports. If the match is canceled (not played at all), ends in a tie, or is delayed beyond 7 days from the scheduled date without a winner determined, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match begins but is not completed, and one team wins due to the opponent's forfeiture, disqualification, or walkover, this market will resolve to the team who wins. If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from https://gol.gg/esports/home. However, if https://gol.gg/esports/home has not published final results within 2 hours after the event’s conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead including video evidence. In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. If a listed team name has no reasonable connection to any participating team, or if it matches or could reasonably refer to another team in the same competition such that the intended team cannot be unambiguously determined, this market will resolve 50-50.

Prediction markets and traditional sportsbooks price events differently because they operate under distinct mechanisms. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. This market reflects what thousands of participants collectively believe will happen, often incorporating real-time game data and community analysis that sportsbooks may lag on. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus diverges from professional oddsmaking, though both aim to reflect true event probabilities.

On Predict, this market is priced through continuous order-book trading, where buyers and sellers submit bids and asks that determine the real-time probability for each outcome. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders profit by correctly predicting which team advances or which individual games they win, and prices adjust instantly as new information emerges—such as roster announcements, scrim results, or live match performance. The more traders participate, the more efficient the price becomes at reflecting true underlying probabilities.

This market resolves around Jul 5, 2026, once the playoff series concludes and the winner is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the match result as officially recorded by League of Legends esports governing bodies and broadcast partners. Until that point, prices will fluctuate based on team form, player news, and live match developments that traders believe affect the final outcome.

Key catalysts include roster changes, player injuries, or substitutions announced before the series begins. During live play, individual game outcomes will trigger sharp repricing, especially if an underdog takes an early lead or a favored team drops a map unexpectedly. Scrim results, coach interviews, and community analysis posted on esports forums can shift trader sentiment preemptively. Meta shifts in League patches and performance trends from other international tournaments may also influence how traders assess each team's readiness and strategic flexibility.
