Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets allow traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to discrepancies, as prediction markets aggregate the wisdom of the crowd and are less susceptible to biases inherent in sportsbook setting. It’s common to see this market’s implied probabilities diverge from initial sportsbook offerings, especially as new information becomes available and more traders participate. Examining these differences can highlight where the crowd believes sportsbooks may be mispricing the event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, signaling a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling pressure drives the price down. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust its predictions accordingly, providing a real-time assessment of the event’s potential results.
This market resolves around Sep 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Once the official score is declared, the market will settle, and traders will be paid out based on their holdings in the winning outcome.
