PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Polymarket enforces strict completion and edge-case rules (walkovers = 50-50, 7-day delay = 50-50), while Kalshi uses a minimal 'ball played' standard that does not explicitly address walkovers, retirements, or delays. This creates different resolution outcomes for incomplete or forfeit scenarios.Hero tip: Polymarket markets provide explicit protection against walkovers and extended delays (both resolve 50-50). Kalshi markets may resolve Yes for either player even if a walkover occurs or the match is incomplete, as long as a ball was played. For match winner bets, prefer Polymarket if you want edge-case certainty. For completion markets (Polymarket only), note that retirements after play begins resolve to the advancing player, not 50-50.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Detailed completion framework: Match winner resolves to advancing player if retirement/default/disqualification occurs after play begins; walkovers resolve 50-50; cancellations and 7-day delays without result resolve 50-50. Completion market ('Completed Match') resolves No if any forfeit occurs. Key Quote: 'If the match ends in a walkover (player withdraws before the start and the other advances automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50.'
  • Kalshi: Minimal binary framework: Either player wins and resolves Yes if a ball has been played. No explicit handling of walkovers, retirements, delays, or incomplete matches. Key Quote: 'If Ugo Humbert wins the Humbert vs Bonzi professional tennis match in the 2026 ATP S-Hertogenbosch Round Of 16 after a ball has been played, then the market resolves to Yes.'
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds on Polymarket and Kalshi often diverge from traditional sportsbook lines because they reflect real-time crowd sentiment rather than fixed oddsmaker pricing. Sportsbooks adjust odds primarily to balance liability, while prediction markets aggregate thousands of independent trader beliefs continuously. For the Humbert vs Bonzi match, prediction market prices may lead or lag sportsbook odds depending on which venue attracts more informed or casual volume. Comparing these two pricing sources can reveal arbitrage opportunities and help identify which market is pricing in the latest player news, injury updates, or surface conditions.
