Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of informed traders, which can differ from sportsbook odds influenced by factors like public betting patterns and house margins. Sportsbooks typically set initial lines to balance action on both sides, while this market allows participants to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each team winning. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information or interpretations of team form, player fitness, and strategic approaches. It's common to see prediction markets converge towards what many believe is the 'true' probability as more information becomes available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price fluctuates, reflecting the collective assessment of the match’s potential results. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, based on the expectations of those trading shares.

Unexpected performance in earlier matches during the Laver Cup could also alter perceptions of each team’s form and chances of success. Additionally, real-time updates during the match itself, such as a dominant start by one pairing or a crucial break of serve, could trigger rapid price movements as traders react to unfolding events. Public sentiment and expert analysis could also play a role.
