Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they operate under different mechanisms. Sportsbooks set lines to balance liability and extract margin, while prediction markets like this one are priced by trader consensus—buy and sell pressure from participants with real money at stake. Traders may incorporate different information sets, time horizons, or risk appetites than sportsbooks, leading to meaningful price differences. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbooks can reveal where traders see value relative to conventional betting lines for the six-hitting outcome.
On Polymarket, traders set the price of this market through continuous buying and selling of outcome shares. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price reflects the aggregate belief of all participants about which team will record more sixes, with each trade updating the odds in real time. Higher prices indicate stronger trader conviction; lower prices suggest skepticism. Liquidity and trading volume influence how quickly prices adjust to new information, such as team announcements or weather updates closer to match day.
