Often, prediction market odds can differ from those found at traditional sportsbooks. This is because prediction markets harness the wisdom of the crowd, reflecting a broader range of information and perspectives than a sportsbook’s internal models. While sportsbooks set odds based on statistical analysis and expert opinion, this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs, potentially leading to odds that more accurately represent the true probability of an event. Discrepancies can arise due to differing risk assessments or access to unique information among market participants.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe an outcome is likely, the higher the share price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market constantly adjusts to new information and changing sentiment surrounding the Kuzyshyn vs. Zozulia match.
