Prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of wisdom than sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective intelligence of traders who are incentivized to make accurate predictions. Often, you’ll find that prediction markets are more accurate than traditional betting markets, especially when there's a lot of information available and many participants. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources or varying levels of expertise among bettors and traders.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective prediction. The current price indicates the market’s assessment of the likelihood of a specific result in the Kryvorotko vs. Chepurnyi match.
