Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. This can be due to the wisdom of the crowd effect, where the collective predictions of many individuals prove more accurate than those of a few experts. While sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and profit margins, this market reflects the aggregated beliefs of traders who are incentivized to make accurate predictions. Discrepancies may arise from differing information access, risk tolerance, or simply varying interpretations of the players' chances.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds remain responsive to new information and changing sentiment regarding the Korea Open women's singles match.
