Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant number of users believe a player has a higher chance of winning than implied by sportsbook odds, the price will move accordingly. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply a different assessment of player form and potential. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbook odds in accuracy.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular player, the price increases, reflecting a higher perceived chance of victory. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and reflects their collective forecast for the Korea Open match.
