Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of bettors, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on their own analysis, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs about the outcome. This can lead to discrepancies, particularly as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It's common to see prediction markets incorporate information faster than sportsbooks, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities, though past performance is not indicative of future results.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring.
