Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market is driven purely by participants’ beliefs about the outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially when there’s significant public interest or disagreement about the likely winner. Examining these differences can be insightful, as they highlight where the crowd diverges from professional oddsmakers in their assessment of the KHL matchup.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of each share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the KHL matchup. The current volume indicates the level of interest and confidence in the various possibilities for this contest.
