Prediction market odds, like those found in this market, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the different incentives and information sources involved. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while prediction markets reflect the collective belief of informed traders. This can lead to prediction markets being more accurate, especially when significant information isn't yet widely reflected in sportsbook lines. However, sportsbooks typically offer tighter spreads, and this market's odds may reflect a different assessment of team performance and potential game outcomes.
Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to variations in trader composition, market-making activity, and differing fee structures. Polymarket might attract a different class of traders than Kalshi, leading to distinct perspectives on the likely outcome of the SSG Landers versus Lotte Giants game. Furthermore, the liquidity and volume on each platform can influence price discovery, with lower volume potentially leading to greater price volatility. These factors contribute to the observed differences in implied probabilities for this market.
