Polymarket and Kalshi can show different prices on the same outcome due to variations in user base, liquidity depth, and fee structures. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Traders on one platform may have different information access or risk appetite, causing temporary price gaps. Additionally, each platform's order-book dynamics and settlement rules can influence how quickly prices adjust to new information. These spreads typically narrow as arbitrageurs trade across venues, but during low-liquidity periods or breaking news, divergence can persist and create trading opportunities.
Key catalysts include roster updates, injury reports for star players, recent team performance streaks, and head-to-head historical matchups. Weather conditions on game day—particularly wind and temperature at the stadium—can shift expectations for run production and pitcher performance. Line-up announcements and bullpen availability often trigger sharp price moves in the final hours before first pitch. Additionally, any breaking news about team morale, coaching changes, or unexpected roster moves can rapidly reshape trader positioning and shift odds across both platforms.
