Prediction markets and sportsbooks price events differently because they operate under distinct incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and guarantee profit through the spread, while prediction markets reflect pure trader belief—prices move based on supply and demand from participants risking real capital. Prediction markets often incorporate information faster and can offer sharper, less biased odds because traders profit directly from accuracy. However, sportsbooks may have deeper liquidity and tighter spreads on major events. Comparing both sources helps you spot value and understand market consensus.
Key catalysts include roster changes, injury announcements, recent team performance streaks, and head-to-head matchup history. Lineup adjustments or the return of star players can significantly shift odds. Weather conditions on game day, home-field advantage factors, and momentum from recent wins or losses often drive late trading activity. Major sports news outlets and team social media accounts frequently signal these developments before markets fully price them in. Monitoring KBO standings, player health reports, and pre-game analysis will help you anticipate price moves and identify trading opportunities as the event approaches.
