Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Predict, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the mechanisms behind price discovery. Sportsbooks set lines based on internal models and aim to balance action on both sides, while prediction markets rely on the collective intelligence of traders who buy and sell contracts representing potential outcomes. This market, for example, may show a different implied probability than a sportsbook, as traders incorporate a wider range of information and incentives. Prediction markets also benefit from lower overhead and the ability to continuously update odds as new information emerges.
