Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the wisdom of the crowd effect. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk assessment, while this market reflects the collective predictions of many individuals. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can drive the prediction market odds in a different direction. This can lead to prediction markets being more accurate than sportsbooks, particularly when there is strong public sentiment or inside information not yet reflected in the sportsbook lines. It's a fascinating comparison of different forecasting methods.

On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market's current assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market is highly dynamic, and prices can fluctuate rapidly based on trading activity and external events. This allows for a real-time assessment of expectations surrounding the Royals-Red Sox game.

This market resolves around Sep 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result will be determined by the official outcome of the game between the Kansas City Royals and the Boston Red Sox, as reported by a major sports news source. This includes whether the Royals win, the Red Sox win, or if the game ends in a tie. Traders will be able to see the final result reflected in the market, and payouts will be distributed based on the final outcome.

Several signals could significantly move this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries, changes in the starting pitchers, or weather forecasts impacting the game could all influence trading activity. Unexpected announcements about team strategies or managerial decisions could also cause shifts in the odds. Furthermore, general baseball news and analysis, as well as public sentiment expressed on social media, can contribute to price movements. A strong performance by either team in preceding games might also affect trader confidence and impact the market.
