Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, representing a broader range of information and potential biases. If the sportsbook odds significantly differ from those seen here, it could indicate disagreement about underlying factors influencing the match. It’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived through different mechanisms, and neither is always perfectly accurate in predicting the final result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people trade, the price adjusts to reflect new information and changing sentiment. Higher volume generally indicates greater confidence in the market’s assessment of the probabilities. The market price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket.
