Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance liability and extract a margin, while prediction markets aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. This market's odds may lead or lag traditional sportsbook pricing depending on which venue attracts sharper or more informed participants at any given moment. Comparing the two can reveal mispricings, though both should be viewed as estimates rather than ground truth. Traders often monitor both to identify value opportunities.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the cumulative trading activity and the current balance of capital allocated to it. As traders place orders, the price adjusts dynamically to reflect their collective expectations about the second-half result. This continuous pricing model ensures liquidity and allows participants to enter or exit positions throughout the trading window without waiting for a counterparty.
This market resolves around Jul 29, 2026, once the match concludes and the second-half result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome will reflect which team scored more goals during the second half of the fixture. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final whistle, pending confirmation of the official match result.
Several factors could shift this market significantly before Jul 29, 2026. Team news—injuries, suspensions, or lineup changes announced before kickoff—often triggers sharp repricing. First-half performance is a major catalyst; a strong or weak opening 45 minutes typically reshapes expectations for the second half. Momentum swings, tactical adjustments, and in-game momentum shifts during the first half will likely drive trading activity. Weather conditions, referee decisions, and any unexpected developments during the match could also influence trader sentiment and move prices as new information emerges.
