Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on expert analysis and may adjust them based on betting action, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome, potentially leading to different probabilities. Discrepancies can arise due to varying levels of information, biases, or differing risk assessments between market participants and sportsbook operators. It’s common to see prediction markets incorporate information faster than sportsbooks, especially in response to breaking news or late-developing insights.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome—either Tyra Caterina Grant winning or Aliona Falei winning. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived chance of that outcome occurring. Conversely, increased selling pressure drives the price down. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the traders participating in this market.
