It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially early in the market’s lifecycle or when new information emerges. Comparing this market to sportsbook odds can be a useful exercise in understanding differing viewpoints and identifying potential value, but remember that each represents a unique form of forecasting.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Vukic vs Seggerman match. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The platform’s design encourages efficient price discovery, as arbitrageurs can quickly capitalize on any mispricing relative to external information or other traders’ assessments. This dynamic process results in a market-determined probability for each possible result.
