Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. Traders here have direct financial exposure to accuracy, which can surface information faster than traditional oddsmakers. However, sportsbooks may incorporate real-time injury reports or late-breaking news more quickly. Comparing the two reveals where consensus differs and can highlight value opportunities.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the cumulative positions of all participants; as traders buy shares of one outcome, its price rises and the competing outcome's price falls. This continuous repricing ensures the market stays responsive to new information. Traders profit by buying low and selling high, or by holding shares until resolution and collecting the payout if their outcome occurs.

This market resolves around Aug 1, 2026, once the second-half result of the match is final and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals in the second half alone, independent of the first-half score or full-match result. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout upon resolution. Early resolution is possible if the match is abandoned or rescheduled, though standard completion is expected.

Team news such as injuries, suspensions, or lineup changes announced before kickoff can shift odds significantly. First-half performance is a major catalyst; a team trailing badly at halftime may see its second-half win probability decline sharply. Tactical adjustments, substitutions, and momentum swings during the match itself drive continuous repricing. Weather conditions, referee decisions, and red cards can also influence trader expectations. Real-time score updates and possession statistics typically trigger the largest price movements as match time approaches resolution.
