Description

This event group covers the first-team-to-score outcome in the Japan vs. Sweden FIFA World Cup match scheduled for June 25, 2026. Markets track which team (Japan, Sweden, or neither) records the opening goal, with resolution depending on the scope of play considered (regulation + stoppage time only, or including extra time).

PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Kalshi includes extra time in its resolution scope, while Polymarket explicitly caps resolution at 90 minutes plus stoppage time only, excluding extra time and penalty shootouts. This creates a material difference in outcomes if the match reaches extra time.Hero tip: If you hold positions on both platforms, understand that Polymarket will resolve first (at 90+stoppage conclusion) while Kalshi remains open through extra time. A goal in extra time will cause the two markets to diverge in outcome. Verify your risk tolerance for this timing mismatch before settlement.

Critical divergence points:

  • Kalshi: Resolves Yes if Japan scores first, Sweden scores first, or neither scores—across the entire game including regulation, stoppage time, and any extra time periods. Scope is maximally inclusive of all play.
  • Polymarket: Resolves to Japan, Sweden, or Neither based strictly on first goal within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts are explicitly excluded from resolution.
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

The first-goal scorer market aggregates trader positions across Polymarket and Kalshi, tracking which team bettors expect to score first in the Japan vs. Sweden match. This market reflects real-time consensus by combining liquidity and pricing signals from both platforms. Traders use these odds to hedge sports exposure or speculate on early-game momentum. Cross-platform tracking reveals how different market microstructures and user bases price the same outcome, offering insight into whether one venue sees stronger conviction than the other.

Prediction markets like these operate on continuous order books where traders set prices dynamically, unlike traditional sportsbooks that post fixed lines. This market's odds reflect live supply and demand rather than a bookmaker's margin. Prediction markets often discover prices faster during breaking news or momentum shifts because traders profit directly from accurate forecasts. Comparing this market's current odds to major sportsbook lines can reveal arbitrage opportunities or signal where sharp money is flowing ahead of kickoff.

Polymarket and Kalshi serve different trader bases, regulatory frameworks, and liquidity pools, which naturally creates pricing gaps. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform's fee structure, order-matching engine, and user incentives shape how quickly prices adjust to new information. Differences in contract design—such as payout precision or settlement speed—can also influence where sophisticated traders concentrate volume. Monitoring both venues helps identify temporary mispricings and reveals which platform's participants hold stronger conviction on Japan or Sweden scoring first.

Team news—injuries to key forwards, lineup changes, or tactical shifts—can significantly shift odds on either side. Pre-match betting patterns and sharp money flow into sportsbooks often precede prediction market moves. Live in-game action, such as early chances, fouls, or goalkeeper saves, will drive rapid repricing as traders update their expectations. Weather conditions, pitch quality, and referee assignments may also influence scoring likelihood. Monitor social media, team announcements, and live commentary for catalysts that could swing this market before kickoff or during the opening minutes.
