Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market’s pricing is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the likelihood of each team scoring first. If a significant discrepancy exists, it may indicate that the market perceives information differently than sportsbooks, or that one venue has a more informed or active trading base. It’s common to see convergence as the event approaches, but differences can present potential arbitrage opportunities for informed traders.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each team scoring first. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders believe Jagiellonia will score first, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa for Legia Warszawa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants, creating a probabilistic forecast of the event’s outcome.

This market resolves around Sep 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team—Jagiellonia Bialystok or Legia Warszawa—scores the first goal in the match. The official match records will serve as the definitive source for determining the winning outcome. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final market price at the time of resolution.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Jagiellonia or Legia could significantly shift expectations. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments announced by the managers, or even weather conditions on match day could all impact trader sentiment. Unexpected lineup announcements close to kickoff are also likely to cause movement in the market, as traders react to the perceived impact on each team’s scoring potential.
