Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate beliefs from traders risking real capital on outcomes. Prediction markets typically incorporate broader information flows and can adjust faster to breaking news or shifts in player form. For this match, comparing Polymarket's implied probability to major sportsbook lines reveals whether the crowd-sourced prediction market view aligns with professional oddsmakers or signals a meaningful disagreement worth investigating.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell outcome shares, and the price adjusts based on supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The implied probability for each outcome is derived from the current share price, so larger trades move the odds more dramatically than smaller ones. As traders deposit capital and position themselves, the market continuously reprices to reflect new information and shifting expectations about the match result.
