Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Angelini vs Castagnola tennis match displays real-time odds and price movements as traders buy and sell shares tied to the match outcome. You can monitor how the probability shifts leading up to the event, track cumulative trading volume, and review the historical price chart to see how market sentiment has evolved. This market reflects collective trader expectations about who will win the ITF Umag contest, updated continuously as new information emerges and participants adjust their positions.

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven purely by trader consensus—no house edge. Comparing this market's implied probability to major sportsbooks can reveal value opportunities, though prediction markets typically converge toward sportsbook consensus as the event approaches. Both venues aggregate information, but prediction markets reward accuracy directly through financial gain.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader activity into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Shares representing each outcome trade continuously, and the price of each share reflects the collective probability assigned by all active traders. As more capital flows into one outcome, its price rises and the opposing outcome's price falls, creating a self-correcting mechanism. The spread between bid and ask prices tightens as liquidity increases, rewarding early information advantage while maintaining fair discovery.

This market resolves around Jul 12, 2026, once the match concludes and the result is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which player wins the ITF Umag contest—no ambiguity exists in tennis match results. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final point, allowing quick settlement and capital redeployment.

Several factors can shift trader positioning before the match begins. Recent form and head-to-head records between Angelini and Castagnola often trigger repricing as bettors incorporate new data. Injury reports, court surface conditions, and weather forecasts at the Umag venue can significantly alter perceived advantage. Betting action from sharp traders or institutional flow may also signal information asymmetry. As the match start time approaches, late-breaking news about player fitness or tactical adjustments typically drives final volatility in this market.
