Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Castillo Meza vs Chan tennis match displays real-time odds and price movements as traders buy and sell shares tied to the match outcome. You can monitor the current probability estimate, historical price charts, and trading activity to see how market sentiment evolves. This data updates continuously throughout the trading period, helping you track shifts in expectations as new information emerges.

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of traders risking real capital on outcomes. This market may show different implied probabilities than traditional sports betting sites, especially if one venue has sharper or more active traders. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus is strongest and where informed traders see value relative to conventional betting lines.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on the ratio of shares bought and sold for each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders purchase shares representing their belief in who will win, and the cumulative positions determine the live probability. As more capital flows toward one outcome, the price shifts to reflect that conviction. The system incentivizes accurate predictions by rewarding correct forecasters with the full payout, creating a mechanism where real money aligns incentives with accuracy.

This market resolves around Jul 9, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The winner will be determined by the official match result from the ITF San Diego tournament. Once the match concludes and the result is documented, the market will settle automatically, paying out traders who correctly predicted the outcome. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final point, pending confirmation from tournament officials and news sources.

Several factors could shift odds before the match begins or concludes. Player injury announcements, recent tournament performance, head-to-head records, and court surface conditions all influence trader expectations. Weather delays or schedule changes may also trigger repricing as the event date approaches. Real-time match developments—such as early set outcomes or momentum swings—will drive sharp price movements during play. News about either player's fitness, ranking updates, or recent form could prompt significant trading activity and alter the implied probability substantially.
