Prediction market odds often reflect sharper, crowd-sourced insights compared to traditional sportsbook lines. In this market, the user-driven pricing mechanism can diverge from sportsbook odds due to real-time trader sentiment and access to niche data. While sportsbooks set fixed lines based on broader models, prediction markets adjust dynamically, sometimes offering tighter spreads or different implied probabilities.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, traders collectively set the odds by buying and selling shares for each possible outcome. The current price reflects the aggregated belief of participants about which player is more likely to win. As new information emerges — such as player form or weather updates — the market price adjusts based on trading volume and shifts in sentiment.
